For over three decades, the rape and murder of Christina Reed in 1980 haunted the victim’s family and the community where the crime occurred. Despite persistent investigation by law enforcement, the case eventually went cold, joining the ranks of countless unsolved crimes from the past. However, in 2004, a breakthrough emerged—thanks to advancements in forensic science, particularly DNA technology. Even though an offender had been identified it would be another nine years before he was charged for his heinous acts. What had long seemed destined to remain denied justice was finally brought to closure.
